Chocolate Hills resort sarado na, hirit ng Bohol gov: We want to find the truth

HABANG mainit pa ang kontrobersiya sa viral resort sa gitna ng Chocolate Hills, pinatawag ni Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado ang ilang opisyal ng Sagbayan, Bohol.

Ito ay para mabigyang-linaw ang ginawang pagpapatayo at operasyon ng Captain’s Peak Garden and Resort sa nasabing lugar.

Ayon sa gobernador, makikipagpulong siya kay Sagbayan Mayor Restituto Suarez III, sa konseho ng bayan, at mga department head ng lokal na pamahalaan upang ipaliwanag kung bakit binigyan ng business permit ang nabanggit na resort, gayong wala naman itong Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) mula sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Ang nais ni Aumentado mula sa mga opisyal: “To fully give us the background and as to what actions have been taken.”

Sinabi rin ng Bohol governor na gusto rin niyang i-summon ang local DENR officials.

“We want to find the truth,” sey niya.

Noong Huwebes, March, 14, nagtungo ang INQUIRER sa Sagbayan town hall upang mahingan sana sila ng pahayag ukol sa isyu, ngunit parehong wala roon ang alkalde o kahit na sinong opisyal ng munisipyo.

Ang Chocolate Hills ay itinuturing isang National Geological Monument and Protected Area sa bisa ng Proclamation 1037.

Bukod pa riyan, kinilala ang nasabing tourist attraction bilang isa sa “Global Geoparks” ng United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), na kauna-unahan din sa ating bansa.

Kamakailan lang, binawi ng munisipyo ng Sagbayan ang business permit ng Captain’s Peak.

Pero ‘yan ay tinanggihan ng pamunuan ng resort at sa halip ay nagpasya ito na pansamantalang isara ang establisyemento for “maintenance and environmental preservation efforts.”

Sa inilabas na pahayag sa pamamagitan ng Facebook, sinabi ng Captain’s Peak: “[We] will be implementing various eco-friendly initiatives to further enhance the sustainability of our resort.”
