Pamunuan ng resort sa Chocolate Hills, nagsalita na sa isyu
NAGLABAS na ng official statement ang pamunuan ng kontrobersyal na resort sa Chocolate Hills na Captain’s Peak Resort matapos itong mag-trending sa pambabatikos ng netizens.
Marami kasi ang hindi nagustuhan ang pagpapatayo ng resort sa paanan ng isa sa mga kinikilalang tourist attraction sa Pilipinas at idineklara rin na National Geological Monument and Protected Area sa bisa ng Proclamation 1037.
Kaya naman hindi talaga katanggap-tanggap ang ginawang pagpapatayo ng resort sa Chocolate Hills dahil paglapastangan ito sa kalikasan.
At dahil idineklara itong heritage site ay dapat panatiliing maayos ang kaanyuan nito at hindi pinapayagan ang pagtatayo ng mga gusali o establisyimento sa paligid nito.

Saad ng pamunuan ng resort sa Chocolate Hills, naiintindihan ng mga ito ang concern ng mga tao ukol sa pagpe-preserve ng naturang tourist attraction.
“We understand and respect the concerns raised by environmental advocates and members of the community regarding the preservation of this natural wonder. We assure the public that our operations are conducted with utmost care and consideration for the environment.
“We are open to constructive dialogue and welcome input from all parties involved. As we continue with our development endeavors, we remain dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism practices and preserving the natural beauty of Bohol for future generations to enjoy,” sey nito sa kanilang official statement.
Ayon naman sa pahayag ng kapatid ng may-ari ng resort sa Chocolate Hills na si Juliet Sablas sa ABS-CBN News, dumaan sila sa tamang proseso sa pagkuha ng permit at clearance para makapagpatayo ng resort na pribado ang pagmamay-ari.
Hindi rin daw sila pinagsabihan na bawal mag-operate kapag walang Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) dahil binigyan naman daw sila ng clearance ng Protected Area Management Bureau (PAMB).
Alam kasi nila na mag-operate kami. Kung talagang, the law if ever, you are not allowed to operate without that certificate, talagang ii-stop nila kami, diba? ‘Why are you operating? The ECC s not yet complied.’ Wala po [silang sinabi],” saad ni Juliet.
Hindi rin daw nila agad natutukan ang pagproseso ng ECC ng Captain’s Peak Resort dahil na rin sa pandemya.
Hiling naman nito na sana hindi raw ipasira ang naturang resort.
“Sana ganito, hindi na lang mapasara yung Captain Peak’s Resort kasi kawawa naman yun mga taong nagtatrabaho diyan,” sey ni Juliet.
