UP Diliman nagbukas ng bagong kurso na naka-focus kay ‘Taylor Swift’

PARA sa mga college students, sino sa inyo ang Swifties?
Exciting news! May bagong offering ang College of Mass Communications ng UP Diliman sa Quezon City.
Sa Facebook, ibinandera ng nasabing departamento ang special topic na pinamagatang “Celebrity Studies: Taylor Swift in Focus” sa ilalim ng BA Broadcast Media Arts and Studies.
Ayon sa post, bubuksan ang nasabing kurso sa darating na second semester at ang magtuturo niyan ay ang college professor na si Dr. Cherish Brillon.
“The Department of Broadcast Communication is offering a Special Topics in Broadcasting class this coming semester on Taylor Swift. Dr. Cherish Brillon will be handling the class,” caption sa FB.

Ang tatalakayin daw sa nasabing subject ay ang “conception, construction, and the performance of Taylor Swift as a celebrity.”
Bukod diyan, pag-uusapan din daw sa klase ang media relationship ng international pop star pagdating sa “class, politics, gender, race, and fantasies of success and mobility.”
Nakapanayam ng GMA News Online si Prof. Brillon at inamin niya mismo na isa rin siyang Swiftie.
Ayon sa kanya, “I’m very interested in how Filipinos have appropriated Taylor Swift as an icon.”
“It is also interesting for me how Taylor Swift has inspired her Filipino fans in a kind of political activism that was very evident in the last elections,” sey pa niya.
Para sa kaalaman ng marami, unang nagkaroon ng Taylor Swift subject ang ilang sikat na unibersidad sa ibang bansa.
Kabilang na riyan ang Harvard University, Stanford University at New York University.
