Darryl Yap tumanggi sa imbitasyon ng FAMAS: ‘Hindi po ito pagmamalaki o pagyayabang…ito po’y simpleng paninindigan lamang’

MARESPETONG tinanggihan ng blockbuster at controversial director na si Darryl Yap ang imbitasyon ng Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences o FAMAS.
Ipinost ni Direk Darryl sa kanyang Facebook account ang screenshot ng invitation ng nasabing award-giving body at kung ano ang naging sagot niya rito.
“Hi, Direk Darryl! i am part of the FAMAS organization and we would like to invite you and your films to be part of the awards night. Hoping to discuss with and and to hear from you soon. thank you so much (smiling face emoji),” ang mababasa sa kanyang post.
Ang tugon ng “Maid in Malacañang” at “Martyr or Murderer” director, “Thank you for extending an invitation to me. Truly I am honored to have been considered by your esteemed group.
“As a cineaste, I have always look forward to your annual awards night, and I hold your institution in high regard,” sabi pa ng direktor.
Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “However, I must decline your invitation. While I respect and admire your organization, I cannot in good conscience participate in an event where my films will be presented and adjudicated alongside works that I personally do not believe to be deserving of recognition such as Katips, which I believe to be the cinematic equivalent of a surgical operation gone wrong.
“I understand that this may due to my personal biases, but I must uphold my principles and values above all else,” ang diretsahang sagot ni Direk.

“Please understand that I value my personal convictions and integrity more than anything else. I cannot participate in any undertaking that would compromise my principles and require me to change who I am. What you see is what you get from me,” dagdag pa nitong pahayag.
“I do, however, wish you all the best for your awards night this year and in the years to come. I hope we can work together on future projects that are more aligned with my personal beliefs and values, without causing any discomfort or awkwardness.
“Once again, thank you for considering me, I wish you all the success in your upcoming event,” mensahe pa niya sa nag-imbita.
Sa caption naman na inilagay niya sa nasabing FB post, nag-explain ang direktor kung bakit niya ibinahagi sa publiko ang imbitasyon ng FAMAS.
“Minabuti ko pong ipaskil ito upang sabayang ipabatid sa aking mga tagasubaybay, kaibigan sa industriya at mga katrabahong artista…
“Ako po mismo ang umaako ng dahilan kung bakit di nakakasama sa ilang pagkilala ang ating mga munting pelikula.
“Hindi po ito ‘humblebrag’ o pagmamalaki at pagyayabang; hindi rin po nito sinusukat ang kredibilidad ng kahit na sino.
“Hindi po ito repleksyon o tinig ng kahit na sino mula sa Viva films, ito po ay personal kong pahayag; ito po ay simpleng paninindigan lamang na sasagot sa mga tanong at kuro-kuro ng aking mga tagapagtangkilik. Salamat po,” ang paliwanag pa ng blockbuster director.
