IPINALIWANAG nina Aubrey Miles at Troy Montero sa madlang pipol kung bakit sa murang edad ay kinailangan nang sumailalim sa major dental surgery ang kanilang anak na si Rocket.
Sa mga hindi pa masyadong aware, si Rocket ang 4-year-old daughter nina Troy at Aubrey na na-diagnose ng autism spectrum disorder or ASD.
Sa kanyang Instagram page, ikinuwento ni Troy na anim na ngipin ni Rocket ang tinanggal sa nasabing surgery habang apat namang “crowns” ang pinalitan with “a few filings”.
Sabi ng husband ni Aubrey, tumagal ang dental surgery na isinagawa kay Rocket nang halos apat na oras.
“For us, it felt like an eternity but we are so happy with the outcome,” simulang kuwento ni Troy.
Patuloy pa niyang pagpapaliwanag, “So why does she need such a surgery? Brushing and caring for your teeth can be a challenge for all kids.
“Especially if they are super sensitive to touch. It’s pretty common for kids on the Autism Spectrum to have a sensitive mouth area,” dugtong ng actor-model at businessman.
Sa kaso ni Rocket, baka raw kailangan nilang sipilyuhin ang mga ngipin ng bata every few days dahil baka mahirapan at ma-trauma na ito kapag ginawang araw-araw.
“Once Rocket’s started her therapy, her therapist focused on desensitizing her mouth area, which you have probably seen in a few of our videos posted before. It has taken almost a year to get to where we are today.
“Thankfully, now we can brush her teeth twice a day, with no more resistance, no more holding her but the damage has already been done,” sabi pa ni Troy.
“Cavities have already set in and once they started to become sensitive to touch, we had no other choice but to treat them,” dagdag pa niya.
Pinasalamatan din ng aktor ang mga doktor at staff ngPediatric Dentistry Center Philippines sa Quezon City kung saan ginawa ang surgery ni Rocket.
“If you’re looking for a dentist for your child, especially if they are on the autism spectrum, or have special needs, please look them up,” sabi pa ni Troy.
Matatandaang noong April, 2022 ibinalita ng celebrity couple na may autism si Rocket. Nakita nila common symptoms ng ASD sa kanilang anak tulad ng “delayed speech, no eye contact, difficulty communicating, repetitive movements (like running and flapping her hands), and a hard time controlling her emotions.”
“We didn’t share this right away because we are still learning about ASD. It was important for us to educate ourselves about it,” sabi ni Aubrey kasabay ng pagkumpirma na sumasailalim sa speech therapy at occupational therapy ang kanilang anak.
Bukod kay Rocket, may isa pang anak sina Aubrey at Troy, si Hunter habang si Maurie naman ay anak ni Aubrey sa dating karelasyon.
