‘Mortar attack’ sa Maguindanao, gawa ng sundalo?

HUSTISYA ang panawagan ni Maguindanao Rep. Esmael Mangudadatu sa pagkamatay ng dalawang bata at pagkasugat ng 14 iba pa sa pagsabog ng isang mortar na pinaputok umano ng mga sundalo noong Eid’l Fitr.

“My family and I were also victims of unspeakable violence, so believe me when I tell you that I understand the gravity of what they (the victims) are going through.  But while I understand their sentiments, I fervently ask for temperance and call for cooler heads to prevail,” ani Mangudadatu.

Nanawagan si Mangudadatu sa Commission on Human Rights na magsagawa ng masusi at patas na imbestigasyon dahil sa alegasyon na mga sundalo ang nagpaputok ng mortar sa Brgy. Kitango, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Sinabi ng Armed Forces na nagsasagawa rin ito imbestigasyon dahil walang otorisado na mag-operate sa lugar noong Eid’l Fitr.

“As Chair of the Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Committee at the House of Representatives, I appeal to everyone to please refrain from spreading unverified information that may further lead to more acts of violence,” saad ni Mangudadatu.

Ang mga ganitong insidente umano ay kadalasang nauuwi sa rebelyon laban sa gobyerno kaya kailangan na mapanagot ang nasa likod ng mortar attack.

“I have seen how sons picked up the rifles after their fallen fathers. If we are bent on putting the cycle of violence to an end, then we must stand together and work to achieve lasting peace.”
