Kuryente ng lifeline customers posibleng tumaas dahil sa ECQ

MAAARI umanong nabawasan ang bilang ng mga lifeline consumer ngayong Enhanced Community Quarantine dahil nasa bahay lamang ang mga tao kaya mas mataas ang nakokonsumo nilang kuryente.

Ayon kay House committee on energy chairman at Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco dapat tignan ng Department of Energy kung kailangang palitan ang depenisyon ng lifeline upang matulugan ang mga mahihirap na konsumer.

Sa isinagawang high-level energy policy meeting, sinabi ni Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chair Agnes Devanadera na ang depinesyon ng lifeline consumers ay magkakaiba sa bawat Electric Cooperative (EC).

May mga EC umano na hindi pababayaran ang kuryente ng mga pamilya na ang nakonsumo sa panahon ng quarantine ay 50 kiloWatt hour pababa samantalang merong EC na bahagi lamang nito ang sasagutin.

“A consensus was then reached that government should see to it that ‘lifeline consumers’ up to 50KWH be given subsidy nationwide by tapping into several funds available for ECs,” saad ng pahayag ni Velasco.

Ayon sa Department of Energy bumaba ang kinakailangang suplay ng kuryente dahil sa Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Sinabi ni Velasco na maaaring samantalahin ang pagkakataon at magsagawa ng pagkumpuni sa mga planta ng kuryente upang matiyak na sapat ang suplay pagkatapos ng ECQ.

Pero sinabi ni Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi na mahirap magsagawa ng maintenance work ngayon dahil sa pangangailangan ng mga spare parts.
