Pagpapalaya sa mga low risk na preso kailangan

UMAPELA si Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez sa Supreme Court at Department of Justice na ikonsidera ang pagpapalabas sa mga low-risk at vulnerable detainees at prisoners.

Ginawa ni Rodriguez ang pahayag matapos na ianunsyo ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology na nagpositibo sa coronavirus disease ang siyam na preso ng Quezon City Jail at siyam na tauhan nito.

“We all know that our jails are overcrowded. A small space good for one detainee is occupied by four or more prisoners. There is no social distancing to speak of in our detention facilities. A single infected detainee will surely spread the virus to others. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and it already happened in Quezon City,” ani Rodriguez, vice chairman ng House committee on justice.

Suportado umano ni Rodriguez ang rekomendasyon ni House committee on justice at Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso na palayain na ang mga low-risk detainees.

Ayon kay Rodriguez maaaring magtakda ng kondisyon ang DoJ at SC kung sinu-sino lamang ang maaaring palabasin.

Noong Biyernes ay binigyan ng limang araw ng SC ang Office of the Solicitor General upang magkomento sa petisyon ng mga abugado na nananawagan na palayain ang mga piling preso.
