UP Lady Maroons tuloy ang paghahanda kahit nakansela ang UAAP women’s volleyball

TULOY pa rin sa paghahanda ang University of the Philippines women’s volleyball team kahit na nakansela ang UAAP Season 82.

Sinabi ni Lady Fighting Maroons head coach Godfrey Okumu na ang kanyang koponan ay patuloy na magsusumikap na humusay kahit na tuluyang natigil ang UAAP Season 82 sa pagpapalawig ng enhanced community quarantine dahil sa coronavirus pandemic.

“We will continue working out when the lockdown is over. Our work is not yet done,” sabi ni Okumu.

Nitong nakaraang Martes ay tuluyan nang kinansela ng UAAP Board ang Season 82 matapos pahabain ng pamahalaan ang Luzon-wide lockdown hanggang Abril 30.

Ang kanselasyon ay nagresulta sa biglaang pagtatapos ng iba’t ibang events kabilang ang women’s volleyball tournament, na siyang centerpiece event ng second semester ng liga.

Sang-ayon naman si Okumu sa naging desisyon ng UAAP na inuna ang kaligtasan ng lahat.

“The UAAP Board did a great thing of putting the safety of the teams first,” ani Okumu, na sinabi pa na kahit biglang nagwakas ang season ay tuloy lang ang kanilang paghahanda hanggang sa maging maayos na ang lahat.

“The safety of the players usually comes first, other things come second,” dagdag pa ni Okumu. “Our top priority right now is the safety of our players, so we are avoiding coming together as an entire team.”
