NAGKUMAHOG na maglatag ng mahigpit na seguridad ang gobyerno kahapon sa US embassy sa Roxas blvd., sa Maynila pagkatapos makumirmang kabilang ito sa mga bobombahin ng Al Qaeda sa pinaigting na terorismo nito sa buong mundo pagkatapos makapuga ang maramingh terorista sa mga bilangguan sa ilang bansa.
Iniutos ni National Security Adviser Cesar Garcia ang “hardening of targets” sa US embassy bunsod ng international alert na itinaas ng Interpol sa mga interes ng Kano.
“We consulted the National Security Adviser and the NSA had advised us that we are already intensifying intelligence-gathering and we continue the hardening of targets, which are the focus of these alerts such as the US Embassy,” ani deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte.
Sinabi ni Valte na pinaigting na ang pangangalap ng intelligence information sa mga lugar na reresbakan ng Al Qaeda, na kinakatawan sa Pilipinas ng Abu Sayyaf at Jemaah Islamiya.
“That just means essentially that we are heightening measures for the focus of the alerts, such as the US Embassy,” ani Valte.
Sinabi ni Valte na di magpapalawig ang gobyerno hinggil sa detalye ng banta.
“We can’t divulge the security measures because that is like telling those people who wanted to cause harm that `these are the things that you should go against’,” ani Valte.
Ang global security alert ay itinaas ng Interpol bunsod ng pagpuga ng mga terorista sa mga bilangguan sa siyam na bansa. Tinatayang daan-daang terorista ang nakatakas.
Isinara na ng US ang 22 embahada at konsulada nito sa mga bansang Islamic. Ayon sa Interpol, ang Agosto ang anibersaryo ng mga pag-atake sa India, Russia at Indonesia. —Inquirer
