Morissette ikinumpara kay Chokoleit: Kahit may malala na siyang sakit nag-show pa rin!

NAPANOOD namin ang tinilad-tilad na video ng kabarong si Jobert Sucaldito in three parts on YouTube nitong birthday concert ng kanyang alagang singer na si Kiel Alo at the Music Museum.

Surrounded by fellow reporters, hinati sa dalawang bahagi ang interview kay Jobert while puffing at his cigarette. ‘Yung isa naman ay nasa entablado siya before the show started. Hindi namin alam which came ahead.

Ang tiyak, no Morissette Amon performed at the Kiel’s birthday concert pa mandin as the former staged walkout bago pa man nagsimula ‘yon.

Despite Morissette’s absence, Jobert—as the producer—had no reason to embarrass himself by calling it off. Anong mukha nga naman ang ihaharap niya sa mga bumili ng tickets hoping to see a performance to end all performances?

Nakakahiya rin siyempre sa ibang co-performers who Jobert charmed his way through, pumayag lang suportahan ang kanyang artist whose career path he wants patterned after Michael Pangilinan’s?

Malaman-laman ni Jobert, it was Mario Dumaual’s harmless question which later sent Morisette banging her head on the wall sabay nagdudumaling lumabas ng concert venue to God-know-where-she-was-headed.

The irony of ironies, hindi naman pala iba si Morissette kay Jobert and so is her manager named David Cosico. Jobert treats her like his own, well, as he normally does naman kahit sa iba pang mga mang-aawit to his liking.

The baffling part is that hindi alam ni Jobert what got into Morissette. ‘Yung mga tanong ba ni Mario?

May pinagdadaanan ba siyang personal, na bigla na lang sumabog just before the show?

Alinman sa nabanggit, Morissette—isama na rin ang kanyang manager—should know what “commitment” means kesehodang singer pa siya o hindi. Once an agreement is sealed between parties, whatever crops up or threatens to thwart it kung hindi naman a matter of life and death, commitment should always be honored.

If it were a family issue, save for an unfortunate incident, it doesn’t come by at the spur of the moment.

Morisette’s walkout scene drowns out the most flattering remarks about how exceptionally good she is as a performer.

Even when hired by a company, daig ng isang empleyadong walang ka-attitude-attitude problem sa katawan kahit ang pinakamahusay or the most punctual worker.

In a world which detests “feeling diva” artists, ang mga tulad ni Morissette who feels licensed to muddle up things with no regard for her co-performers’ feelings are made to pay the price. Kukunin at magtitiwala pa ba uli si Jobert sa kanya? What about the other concert producers in the future?

Morissette has left a stigma.

Kung tutuusin, stigma na ngang matatawag ang isyu sa kanila ng tatay niya sa isang lipunang nagpapahalaga sa pamilya na hindi nadidiktahan o nasisira nang dahil lang sa personal na isyu.

No one doubts Morissette’s talent. Kinabog na nga niya ang marami, edging them out to near-oblivion.

Morbid as this may sound or drawing a comparison as remote and isolated as it may be, hindi namin maiwasang ikumpara ang nasirang singer-comedian na si Chokoleit kay Morissette.

As the video clearly suggested, medyo hirap nang bumabanat ng kantang “Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko” si Chokoleit at a provincial show hours before he expired. For sure, bago pa man siya sumampa sa entablado’y masama na ang timpla niya yet he performed as though he owned the stage.

Walang walkout na nangyari, let alone the slightest provocation from a TV reporter. No drama, no theatrics.

Mas malungkot ‘yung posibleng sapitin ni Morissette. Buhay nga, tegi naman ang career.
