INIULAT ni Acting Agriculture Secretary William Dar kay Pangulong Duterte na hinihintay pa ang resulta ng pagsusuri para matukoy kung African Swine Fever (ASF) ba o hindi ang ikinamatay ng mga baboy sa ilang hog farms sa Rizal.
Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo na ito ang naging pag-uulat ni Dar kay Duterte matapos ang isinagawang pulong ng Gabinete Miyerkules ng gabi.
“As regards the African Swine Flu, while concerned agriculture officials are still awaiting the results of the viral isolation tests, they have conducted intensified awareness campaign on local farmers; and surveillance, cleaning and disinfection activities in affected areas; among others,” sabi ni Dar.
Ito’y taliwas naman sa naunang pahayag ng ilang opisyal ng DA kung saan sinabing hindi ASF ang sanhi ng pagkamatay ng baboy sa ilang hog farms.
Matatandaang ipinag-utos ng DA ang culling o maramihang pagpatay sa mga baboy para matiyak na hindi na ito kumalat.
Samantala, tiniyak din ni Dar na gumagawa na rin ng hakbang kaugnay ng Fall Army Worm.
“On the Fall Army Worm, the Agriculture Department has conducted quarantine in areas affected by this new pest; sanitation and intercropping; and the use of organic and inorganic fertilizers,” sabi pa ni Panelo.
