‘Dapat nga bang tawaging Asia’s Multimedia Star si Alden?’

ALDEN RICHARDS

CALLING Alden Something as Asia’s Multimedia Star is simply a MISNOMER.

What’s MISNOMER? It is a “wrong or inaccurate use of a name or term.” Or maling paggamit ng isang kataga para sa isang tao.

Let me explain why. First, when you say multimedia star, it encompasses not one medium but a plethora of them. At sa lahat ng medium ay dapat naging successful ka. In Alden’s case ay hindi naman which is why we simply felt that his drumbeaters are riding on the COATTAILS of the success of his latest film.

Alden’s last teleserye was a flop. In the concert scene, Alden performed to an SRO crowd sa Kia Theater.

It’s a smaller venue compared to Araneta Coliseum (with seating capacity of 17,000) or Mall of Asia Arena (with full seating capacity of 18,000). Enrique Gil and Daniel Padilla had performed in the former before an SRO crowd.

Sa commercials naman, the law of diminishing return has caught up with him as kumonti na ang kanyang endorsements. Recording-wise, his last album was not a big hit.

Sa movie naman, he was recently cast in “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” the highest grossing Pinoy film of all time but much of its box-office credit goes to Kathryn Bernardo who is clearly a bigger star than him.

Having said that, I feel that Alden’s drumbeaters are cashing in on the actor’s successful movie and his recent international award.

Whatever you say, however you bash me, it will always be a MISNOMER to me ‘yang bagong title ni Alden lalo pa’t it includes the whole of Asia.
