Tax ng PCSO mas malaki kesa sa pondong pantulong sa mahihirap

MAS malaki pa ang binayarang buwis ng Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office kumpara sa pondong naitabi nito para itulong sa mga mahihirap na pasyente.
Sa pagdinig ng House committee on appropriations kahapon, sinabi ni PCSO General Manager Royina Garma na dapat ay pag-aralan ang pagpapataw ng buwis sa ahensya.
“I think it would be best if we will be exempted from taxation,” ani Garma.
Noong 2018, sinabi ni Garma na nagbayad ng PCSO ng buwis na nagkakahalaga ng P16.7 bilyon samantalang P9 bilyon lamang ang nailaan nito sa charity services.
Napupunta ang 30 porsyento ng kita ng PCSO sa charity operations.
Sumang-ayon naman si Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman kay Garma na rebesahin ang pagbubuwis sa PCSO dahil ang pangunahin umano nitong trabaho ay tumulong sa mga mahihirap na pasyente.
“I could agree with you that there is need to rationalize your tax obligations because your charity which is the main function,” ani Lagman.
