Panelo sa nakatakdang paglaya ni Antonio Sanchez: Nagpapatupad lamang tayo ng batas

IGINIIT ng Palasyo na walang magagawa ang Malacanang sa nakatakdang paglaya ni convicted ex-Calauan mayor Antonio Sanchez dahil sa ito’y naaayon sa batas.

Sa isang briefing, iginiit ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal  Counsel Salvador Panelo dapat igalang ang batas kaugnay ng pagpapalaya kay Sanchez.

“Basta until the law is there, you cannot do anything. You have to commend the law. Kaya gngga ‘di ba sabi ko, the wisdom of that law will have to address it to the lawmakers,” sabi ni Panelo.

Ito’y matapos na mapaulat na kasama si Sanchez sa mahigit 10,000 na nakatakdang lumaya.

“The Palace cannot oppose the law. The Palace can only implement a law, or the Office of the President. If we have any concern on the wisdom of the law, then it should be addressed to lawmakers. That law was passed during the administration of President Benigno Aquino, right?” ayon pa kay Panelo.

 Sinabi pa ni Panelo na hindi ang administrasyon ni Pangulong Duterte ang nagsabatas ng

Republic Act 10592 or the law increased the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA).

 

“Unang-una nga, iyong batas na iyon, iyong batas na iyon ay hindi iyon iginuhit sa panahon ng administrasyon – that’s number one,” ayon pa kay Panelo.
