Lola ni Julia mas lalong ibinaon sa hukay ang apo; damay pati mga anak

WITH due respect to the old woman, normal na ipagtanggol ng isang grandparent ang kanyang grandchild which is the case of Mrs. Inday Barretto to Julia.

Tama rin ang ina ni Marjorie Barretto sa pagsasabing the main issue isn’t about Julia and Gerald Anderson kundi sa pagitan ng huli at nakahiwalay na nobya na si Bea Alonzo. At kung meron mang dapat ayusin, it should be Bea and Gerald doing the fixing.

But how on earth can’t Julia’s name be dragged into a breakup kung saan siya ang itinuturong babae who Gerald chose over Bea. For sure naman, Julia knew too well na nag-e-exist pa si Bea sa buhay ni Gerald, therefore, she shouldn’t allow herself to fall into the trap.

‘Yun lang naman ang punto ng haters ni Julia which Mrs. Inday quite misunderstood. Worse, the octagenarian has gone as far as praising the Barretto women. Magaganda. Matatalino. Well-bred. Well-mannered.

This is not a debatable issue. The world knows that too well.

But by highlighting the Barretto women’s pluses, natural lang na makaladkad ang mga nananahimik nilang buhay, a fact know to the world na sa halip na nasa isang tabi na lang ay nangabuhay muli like a ghost haunting the present.

Natural din lang na todo-depensa si Mrs. Inday kay Julia. Anak ito ni Marjorie na kakampi niya ngayon as opposed to Gretchen na mukha yatang dinisown na niya for whatever reason only the immediate members of the family are privy to.

Paano kaya kung ang anak ni Gretchen, si Dominique, finds herself in the shoes of Julia? Ganu’n pa rin kaya ang gawing pagtatanggol ni Mrs. Inday to a granddaughter whose mom she has severed her blood ties with?

As a consequence, ang mga bagay na ayaw marinig ni Mrs. Inday from the netizens ang sumalubong sa kanya, rubbing in known truths about the “kabit” thing attributed to her daughters who she so highly looks up to.

It was Mrs. Inday who added fuel to the fire sa halip na apulahin ang dapat sana’y nagniningas pa lang na isyu. Siya ang malakas na hangin na naging sanhi ng paglagablab nito, when she could have opted to keep her dignified quiet.
