Mandatory ROTC handang ipatupad ng DepEd

HANDA ang Department of Education na ipatupad ang Reserved Officers Training Corps., sa Senior High School.

Ayon sa DepEd bago pa man naipasa sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ng Kamara de Representantes na gawing mandatory ang ROTC ay nakikipag-ugnayan na ito sa Department of National Defense at Armed Forces of the Philippines dahil sa pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte noong 2017 Palarong Pambansa kaugnay nito.

Matapos ang serye ng konsultasyon at diskusyon ay mayroon na umanong kasunduang nilagdaan ang DepEd-DND/AFP.

Isang joint technical working group at joint secretariat ang binuo para rito na siyang tututok sa mga kailangang gawin sa pagpapatupad nito.

Gumagawa na tin umano ng curriculum guide at modules at polisiya para sa Advance Citizens Training Program. Bago ipatupad sa buong bansa ay magsasagawa umano muna ng pilot testing sa mga piling paaralan.

Bukod sa paggamit sa ROTC upang mapaigting ang patriotism at nasyonalismo sa mga estudyante, target ng binabalangkas na kurikulum na matutunan ng mga ito ang disaster preparedness and response, rescue at first aid, at mailayo sa paggamit ng ipinagbabawal na gamot.
