GAB pinaigting ang laban kontra illegal bookies

LALO pang pinaigting ng Games and Amusements Board (GAB) ang laban nito kontra illegal gambling.

Katuwang ang Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), nailunsad ng GAB ang tatlong pangunahing operasyon kontra illegal bookies sa Kamaynilaan na humantong sa pagkakaaresto ng pitong katao magmula pa noong Pebrero 4.

Sa pinakabagong raid na isinagawa nitong nakaraang Miyerkules sa Tondo, Maynila naaresto ang isang cashier at dalawang tumataya.

Noong Marso 17, pinamunuan ng GAB ang isang operasyon kontra ticket scalping sa isang PBA game sa Araneta Coliseum na nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto ng dalawang katao.

Ang dalawang scalper ay naaresto matapos nitong magbenta ng complimentary VIP ticket sa isang poseur-buyer sa halagang P500.

Sinabi ni GAB chairman Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra na marami na silang nakilalang illegal bookies sa Metro Manila at marami pang raid ang inaasahang magaganap sa mga susunod na araw.

“GAB cannot do this alone, naka-depend tayo sa availability ng NBI agent na tututok sa kaso and processing of documents in filing of cases,” sabi ni Mitra. “Marami na tayong identified illegal bookies na ready for casing and surveillance pero availability ng NBI agent ang problema.”
