JRU nabawi ang NCAA athletics crown

IPINAGDIWANG ng Jose Rizal University (JRU) ang 100th founding anniversary nito sa pagsungkit ng NCAA Season 94 athletics championship sa Vermosa Sports Hub sa Imus, Cavite.

Nakalikom ang JRU Heavy Bombers ng 664 puntos para maungusan ang Mapua University Cardinals na nagtapos sa ikalawang puwesto sa natipong 644 puntos para makuha ang kanilang unang korona sa track and field magmula nang magtala ng limang sunod na kampeonato noong 2010 hanggang 2014.

Nagtapos naman ang Arellano University Chiefs sa ikatlong puwesto sa naipong 633 puntos.

“This is a fitting triumph since we are celebrating Jose Rizal University’s 100th year,” sabi ni JRU athletic director and NCAA Management Committee member Paul Supan.

Nakuha ni Adonis Cordero ang triple jump gold sa itinalang 14.97 metro at kumubra ng silver medal sa high jump at long jump para tanghaling NCAA Most Valuable Player.

Nauwi naman ni Edcarlo Sabellano ang ginto sa 800m and 1500m run.

Naghatid din ng ginto para sa Kalentong-based school sina Jomar Abila (long jump), Ronmols Andaya (shotput) at ang 4x400m relay team na binubuo nina Frederick Ramirez, Kim Socorin, Jerald Banas at Mark Reklamo, na naorasan ng tatlong minuto at 19 segundo para magtala ng bagong marka sa NCAA.

“We dedicate this to the whole Fabella family especially the JRU founder, Don Vicente Fabella, because this is the 100th year anniversary,” sabi ni JRU coach Jojo Posadas, na nakatuwang ang asawa at track legend Elma Muros-Posadas, Melbert Diones at Raul Abangan sa paghahanda ng JRU track team.
