Salado napiling NCAA Player of the Week

MATAPOS na hindi makapaglaro para sa Arellano University Chiefs sa Season 94 bunga ng tinamong ACL tear sa kanyang kanang tuhod, nakatuon ngayon si Kent Salado na makabawi sa NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball tournament.

At ipinakita ito ni Salado nitong nakaraang Biyernes matapos pangunahan ang kanyang koponan na makabangon buhat sa pitong puntos na paghahabol sa huling yugto kontra University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas at ihatid ang Chiefs sa panalo.

Sa likod ng graduating point guard na si Salado, nagsagawa ang Arellano ng 16-1 ratsada para makabangon at itatag ang walong puntos na kalamangan kontra Perpetual.

Nagtapos ang 5-foot-8 playmaker na may 18 puntos, 12 assist, apat na steal at tatlong rebound para tulungan ang Chiefs na mauwi ang panalong pumutol sa kanilang three-game losing skid.

Bunga ng kanyang mahusay na paglalaro, napili si Salado bilang Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week.

“Sinasabihan ko lang ‘yung teammates ko na kaya pa naman natin kasi kaya nga natin ‘yung malalakas, humahabol nga tayo. Wag lang dapat kami mawalan ng gana,” sabi ng tubong Cagayan de Oro na si Salado patungkol sa tsansa ng Arellano, na kasalukuyang may 3-9 karta, na makausad sa playoff round.

Tinalo ni Salado para sa lingguhang parangal na ibinibigay ng mga print at online sportswriter na kumukober sa pinakamatandang collegiate league ng bansa sina Noah Lugo ng Mapua University Cardinals, James Canlas ng San Beda University Red Lions at Jaycee Marcelino ng Lyceum of Philippines University Pirates.
