ITINALAGA ni Pangulong Duterte si Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno bilang bagong Governor ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas kapalit ng yumaong si dating Governor Nestor Espinalla, Jr.
Kinumpirma ni Presidential at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo ang pagkakapili kay Diokno.
Sinabi ni Panelo na mismong si Duterte ang naghayag sa pagkakapili kay Diokno sa nangyaring pagpupulong ng Gabinet sa Malacanang noong Marso 4.
“We thank Secretary Diokno for his services to the nation and to this Administration as Secretary of Budget and Management, a position he similarly held under the Estrada presidency,” sabi ni Panelo.
Matatandaang naging kontrobersiyal si Diokno matapos ang nangyaring akusasyon sa kanya sa budget.
Inisnab din ni Diokno ang imbitasyon ng Kamaea kaugnay ng mga alegasyon sa kanya.
“We wish Sec. Diokno all the best in his endeavors as the new chief of the country’s central monetary authority. With him at the helm of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, our banking institutions are in good and competent hands,” giit ni Panelo.
