NASAPUL ni Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez ang katotohanan na maaaring makamit ang kapayapaan at pagkakaisa sa pamamagitan ng sports.
“If children can play together without the biases of who they are, then achieving peace is very possible,” sabi ni Ramirez sa pagbubukas ng Mindanao leg ng Batang Pinoy sa Tagum, Davao del Norte. “This is the ultimate goal of this multi-sport competition for athletes 15 years old and below.’’
Kabilang rin sa mga dumalo sa opening ceremony si Davao Del Norte Governor Anthony Del Rosario na tinutulak ang pagbubuo ng mas detalyado, mas pinalawak ang sakop at mas nakatutok sa grassroots na Department of Sports.
Sinabi ni Del Rosario, habang kasama sina Ramirez, Batang Pinoy National Secretariat head Teresito Fortaleza Jr, at Davao Del Norte Youth and Sports Department head Giovanni Gulanes na napapanahon na ang sports ay maging parte na sa gobyerno.
‘‘I think it is about time the Congress should really now pass a bill or a law that will create a Department of Sports that is fully dedicated to sports development from the grassroots and up, and then in line with that, we should require all provinces and at the very least, all highly urbanized and independent chartered cities to also create their own local sports department. So that the new Department of Sports will have all the linkages to all the different provinces and at the very least as I said highly urbanized cities,” sabi ni Del Rosario.
MMF SUPERCROSS TAGUMPAY
Dahil nasa gitna ang Poong Maykapal, tiyak na hindi sesemplang ang MMF Supercross na may pitong yugto. Nagpasalamat si Pastor at race organizer Sam Tamayo sa lahat ng mga sumuporta sa unang yugto ng Supecross na ginawa sa Taytay, Rizal.

Pinasalamatan din ni Tamayo ang mga celebrity na sina Oyo Sotto at Kristine Hermosa-Sotto sa pagbibigay inspirasyon sa mga tumatangkilik sa Philippine motocross.

TOPS Usapang Sports
Magpapatuloy bukas, Pebrero 7, ang Usapang Sports ng Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) sa National Press Club sa Intramuros, Maynila.
Tampok na panauhin ng lingguhang sports forum si PBA commissioner Willie Marcial kasama ang ilang mga coaches ng mga koponan sa PBA D-League.
Magbibigay ng kanilang pananaw at programa ang mga opisyal ng mga koponan habang maglalahad ng kanyang obserbasyon si Marcial sa kahandaan ng liga na magbubukas sa Araw ng mga Puso (Pebrero 14) sa Ynares Sports Arena sa Pasig City.
Dadalo rin sa programa na nakatakda ganap na alas-10 ng umaga si PBA Deputy Director Eric Castro. Kasama rina ng mga coach na sina Bonnie Tan (Petron-Letran), Frankie Lim (Perpetual Help), Rensy Bajar (Diliman College-Gerry’s Grill), Yong Garcia (Marinerong Pilipino), Jino Manansala (St. Clare-Virtual Reality), Mark Herrera (AMA University) at Alvin Grey (Trinity University-The Masterpiece).
