Pagbabawal sa single-use plastic pinamamadali sa Kongreso

MATAPOS ang naiwan tambak ng basura sa pagsalubong ng Bagong Taon, ipinamamadali ng isang solon sa Kongreso ang pagpasa ng mga panukala na maghihigpit sa paggamit ng disposable plastic bag.

Ayon kay Aangat Tayo Rep. Harlin Neil Abayon III may 18 panukala sa Kamara de Representantes kaugnay ng single-use at unrecoverable plastic products and microbeads.

“I am also dismayed by the utter lack of discipline of visitors to the Rizal Park who made Luneta a wasteland of plastic garbage and rotting leftover food,” ani Abayon.

Nakabinbin ang mga panukala sa House committee on ecology.

Dapat din umanong magkaroon ng mas mahigpit na regulasyon kaugnay ng balloon drop ang Department of Tourism, Department of Trade and Industry, at Department of Interior and Local Government.

“If it were not for the intense public pressure from netizens, that hotel resort and other establishments which had similar plans would have set the wrong example to the general public and caused irreparable environmental damage,” ani Abayon.
