Matapos ang 117 taon, Balangiga bells balik PH na

IBINALIK na ng United States ang tatlong Balangiga bells na kinuha ng mga sundalong Amerikano mula sa Pilinas noong panahon ng gera.

Kinuha ang mga bells mula sa bayan ng Balangiga, Eastern Samar, noong 1901.

Dumating ang mga ito sakay ng U.S. Air Force C-130 na “Spirit of MacArthur,” sa Philippine Air Force sa Pasay ganap na alas-10:30 ng umaga, mula sa Okinawa, Japan.

Dalawa sa mga bells ang inilipad mula sa USAF base sa Wyoming, samatantalang nangggaling ang isa pa sa American base sa South Korea.

“More than five decades of initiatives and stalled negotiations passed before the bells were returned, and this is hoped to help close a dark chapter in the two countries’ histories,” sabi ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
