PH swimmers wagi ng 3 ginto sa BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games

BRUNEI — MAAGANG nagparamdan ng lakas at determinasyon ang mga batang swimmers mula sa Davao City sa napagwagihang tatlong gintong medalya sa pagsisimula ng swimming competition ng 10th Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines-Northern Territory-East Asian Growth Area (BIMPNT-EAGA) Friendship Games nitong Huwebes sa Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
Nagwagi sina Joshua Raphael del Rio (200-m freestyle), Fritz Jun Rodriguez (50-meter breaststroke) at Elson Jake Rodriguez (50-meter backstroke) para sa matikas na panimula ng National Team na kinatawan ng mga atleta mula sa focus areas na Davao at Palawan.
Pormal na sinimulan ang limang araw na torneo sa makulay na opening ceremony sa Indoor Stadium, sa pangunguna ni Major General (ret.) at Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin bilang panauhing pandangal.
Pinangunahan naman ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner at Chef-de-Mission Charles Maxey ang delegasyon ng bansa na sasabak din sa sepak takraw, badminton, at athletics.
Sa ginanap na seremonya, tinanggap din ni Maxey ang hosting para sa ika-11 edisyon ng BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games na gaganapin sa Davao City. Layunin ng BIMP-EAGA na mapalakas at maoatatag ang ugnayan nang mga kasaping bansa.
Malugod naman ipinahayag ni BIMPNT-EAGA Sports Council chairman Jufri Rahman ang kasabikan para sa hosting ng Davao City.
Bumuntot si Eirron Seth Vibar sa kababayang si Del Rio para sa 1-2 finish ng Philippines sa 200 meter freestyle.
Ang iba pang silver medalists sa Team PH ay sina Ivo Nikolai Enot (100-meter backstroke), Kierl Suazo (50-meter free, Vibar (200-meter breastroke) at 4X50 freestyle relay team nina Suazo, Elson Jake Rodriguez, Juan Antonio Mendoza at Fritz Rodriguez.
Itinataguyod ng PSC, sa pamumuno ni Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez ang pagsabak ng delegayson, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Local Government Units of Palawan at Davao Mindanao Development Authority.
