NAGHAIN ng resolusyon si Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate upang paiimbestigahan ang bilyon-bilyong gastos sa missionary projects for electrification na sinisingil umano sa mga kostumer.

Ayon kay Zarate patuloy ang paglobo ng gastusing ito na nagpapataas sa bayarin sa kuryente.

Batay sa House Resolution 2287, ang missionary subsidy noong 2014 ay P6.16 bilyon, umakyat ito sa P11.81 bilyon noong 2016 at sa pagtataya ng National Power Corp., ay aabot ito sa P19.35 bilyon sa 2020.

Noong 2011 ang missionary electrification charge ay P0.0454 kada kiloWatt hour at lumobo sa P0.1561 noong 2014.

“NPC is asking to increase it further to P0.1948 per kwh. These billions of additional charges are punishing the electric consumers and contrary to the promised goal of reducing electricity rates,” ani Zarate.

Nangangahulugan ito ng dagdag na P38.96 sa mga kumokonsumo ng 200 kWh kada buwan, P58.44 sa gumagamit ng 300 kWh at P77.92 sa 400 kWh.

“We call on the House leadership to immediately schedule a hearing for this probe when Congress resumes its sessions next week.  We need to protect our consumers from another onerous charge, particularly in this time of economic hardships,” ani Zarate.
