MAY inilaang P2.9 bilyong rice subsidy sa susunod na taon para sa sundalo, pulis at iba pang unipormadong tauhan ng gobyerno.
Ayon kay Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel kasama ang pondo sa P3.757 trilyong budget na hinihingi ng Malacanang para sa 2019.
“It covers financial assistance equivalent to 20 kilos of rice per month, charged to Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses,” ani Pimentel.
Kasama sa makikinabang ang mga tauhan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, at National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.
Sinabi ni Pimentel na malaking tulong ito lalo at walong sunod na buwan ng tumataas ang presyo ng bigas, batay sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority.
Ayon sa PSA ang average na presyo ng well-milled rice ay P45.71 kada kilo noong Agosto, mas mataas ng siyam na porsyento kumpara noong nakaraang taon. Ang regular milled rice naman ay tumaas ng 11 porsyento o nasa P42.26/kilo ang average.
