Pinoy seaman may $6B padala

INAASAHANG aabot na sa $6 billion mark ang padala ng mga Pinoy seaman ngayong taon.

Pero sinabi ni ACTS-OFW Rep. Aniceto Bertiz III kahapon, International Day of the Seafarer, na maaaring mawala ito kung magiging negatibo ang resulta ng review ng European Maritime Safety Agency sa pagsunod ng bansa sa International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.

Ayon kay Bertiz ang mga manlalayag at iba pang staff ng mga foreign ocean-going vessels gaya ng cruise ship at floating casino ay isa sa mga nagpapadala ng malaking remittance sa bansa.

“We expect the enlistment of Filipino sailors to increase along with international ship traffic, as the global economy continues to expand,” ani Bertiz.

Sa bawat $100 cash remittance na ipinapadala sa bangko, $20 dito ang galing sa mga manlalayag.
Mula Enero hanggang Abril ngayon taon, umabot sa $1.934 bilyon ang naipadala ng may 800,00 Pinoy sailors.

Sinabi ni Bertiz na sa kasalukuyan ay pinag-aaralan kung nakasusunod sa pamantayan ng International Convention ang Maritime Industry Authority.

Ang bulto ng mga Pinoy sailors ay pumapasok sa mga international shipping operators na nakabase sa Estados Unidos, Germany, Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Norway, Cyprus, Switzerland, South Korea at Liberia.
