P5/kilo taas sa presyo ng bigas inangalan

Umalma ang isang solon sa nakaambang P5 pagtaas sa bawat kilo ng commercial rice dahil sa kakulangan ng suplay ng bigas ng National Food Authority.
Ayon kay Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas hindi dapat gamitin ng mga negosyante ang kakulangan ng suplay para palakihin ang kanilang kita.
Dapat din umanong magbantay ang Department of Trade and Industry at Department of Agriculture sa pagbabantay ng presyo at paghahanap sa mga nagsasamantalang negosyante.
“If we can maintain the prices of commercial rice, then poor families can afford to buy while waiting for the supply of the NFA. This way we can still help the poor while doing business,” ani Vargas.
Ayon sa Grains Retailers’ Confederation of the Philippines Inc. tataas ng P5 ang bawat kilo ng commercial rice dahil sa kawalan ng mabiling NFA rice.
Mag-aangkat ng 250,000 metriko toneladang bigas ang NFA upang mapunan ang kakulangan sa suplay. Ayon sa NFA tatagal na lamang ng dalawang araw ang bigas nito matapos itong ipadala sa mga lugar na nasalanta ng bagyo at pagputok ng bulkang Mayon.
“For the meantime traders should do their part too in helping the poor consumers. Old stocks should maintain the old price,” dagdag pa ng solon.
