Ronnie Carrasco III - January 27, 2018 - 12:20 AM

FROM Vi to Vic to Vice.

Lumalabas na ganito ang evolution ng taunang Metro Manila Film Festival as regards its stellar impact, isama na ang mga kalahok na tiyak panalo sa box-office.

Dekada otsenta when the MMFF was never without Vilma Santos in the race.

Years later, the MMFF began donning different faces.

Name it, para kang kumain sa isang restaurant with a complete menu for your gastronomic delight.

In recent years, taun-taon na lang ay merong inilalabang entry sina Bossing Vic Sotto at Vice Ganda.

Dahil pareho lang naman silang komedyante (whose respective noontime shows on TV ay direkta pang magkalaban and are eating up each other for ratings supremacy), expect two comedy films fighting tooth and nail at the box-office.

Kung alin sa entries nila deserves our elusive guffaw ay hindi namin masasabi, time is not on our side para pumila at panoorin ang kanilang mga pelikula. Dumedepende lang kami sa mga sabi-sabi from those who watch their films, but man-on-the-street reviews are not exactly always something either Vic or Vice—or both—should feel happy about.

Unlike the past years, ipinatupad ng MMFF committee noong nakaraang taon ang mahigpit na paglalabas ng mga box-office figures generated by all eight official entries. Ilang linggo na nga ang lumipas after last year’s festival had drawn to its close, still no official word had been fed to the media.

Now, i-reserve muna natin ang ating nagtutumiling “Anyare?!” expression. Mas sabay-sabay nating isigaw hanggang mapatid ang mga litid natin sa leeg sa sinapit ng “Meant To Beh” ni Bossing Vic whose entries during the previous years had made it to the Top 4 kundi man nangunguna (unless figures were padded).

Through the years, isang letra ang dumadagdag sa pangunahing bida sa pelikula na malakas humatak ng mga manonood.

As we’ve previously stated: mula kay Vi hanggang kay Vic at ngayon, kay Vice. Following the single letter cycle added to the bida’s name with proven box-office magic to wield, pagkatapos kayang maglaho ang kapangyarihan ni Vice ay sino ang kakabog sa kanya?

Wala, kaya nga siya binansagang Unkaboggable Star, ‘no!

Machete at macho gay. Ito ang tambalan nina Gardo Versoza at Sinon Loresca as they battle out in tonight’s yet another must-see episode of Celebrity Bluff.

Or ang pair of dark horses kayang sina Shenan (almost katunog din ng Sinon at Cenon) at Zaitan will advance to the jackpot round?
