SSS contribution itataas sa 14%, inangalan
Pumalag ang Bayan Muna sa plano ng Social Security System na itaas sa 14 porsyento ang ikinakaltas na kontribusyon sa mga empleyado dahil nadagdagan umano ang kita ng mga ito sa ilalim ng Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion. Ayon kay Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares hindi lahat ng empleyado ay nakinabang sa pagbaba ng personal income tax dahil wala naman talagang binabayarang buwis ang minimum wage earners. “This is misleading because not all workers would have increased take home pay because of the TRAIN. In fact majority of workers would still have the same wages but will have additional expenses due to the TRAIN,” ani Colmenares. Sinabi ni Colmenares na ang dapat gawin ng SSS upang tumaas ang koleksyon nito ay singilin ang mga kompanya na kinakaltasan ang mga empleyado pero hindi inireremit sa kanila. Sa nakaraang administrasyon ang koleksyon ng SSS ay 38-42 porsyento lamang. “Which means SSS failed to collect from many employers who did not transmit the SSS contributions of their employees. SSS only collects contribution from 12 million of its 31 million members,” ani Colmenares. “If SSS will only be able to collect these, then even the pension increase can be funded without need for contribution increase. If they improve their investment efficiency and maximize income from their investments, SSS funds will be more than enough to fund additional pension increases.”
