MMDA ipapatupad ang HOV lane sa Edsa; dry run simula sa Dec. 11

INIHAYAG ng Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na ilalaan ang pang limang lane ng EDSA para sa high-occupancy vehicles (HOV), o mga sasakyang may dalawang pasahero, kasama ang driver, sa pagnanais na maibsan ang trapik sa Metro Manila.
Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni MMDA Assistant General Manager for Planning Jojo Garcia na magsisimula ang isang linggong dry run sa bagong new scheme simula sa Lunes, Disyembre 11, para madetermina kung ito ay magiging epektibo.
Idinagdag ni Garcia bawal na sa HOV lane ang mga sasakyan na walang kasamang pasahero ang driver.

“The HOV lane would be the innermost lane on EDSA, just beside the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), sabi ni Garcia.

Sa kasalukuyan, lima ang lane sa EDSA, ang dalawang outer-most lane ay para sa pampublikong sasakyan, samantalang ang tatlong iba pa ay para sa pribadong sasakyan.

“Cause ng traffic is really the volume. Napakaraming sasakyan, konting infrastructure,” sabi ni Garcia. “Why not encourage them, at least dalawa sa sasakyan. May data tayo sa EDSA, 50 to 60 percent, ang nagmamaneho, (mag-)isa lang.”
