2 kawani ng Customs humingi ng ‘for the boys’, suspendido

SINUSPINDE  ng Office of the Ombudsman ng anim na buwan ang dalawang kawani ng Bureau of Customs dahil sa paghingi ng ‘for the boys’ sa isang negosyante.

Walang matatanggap na sahod habang suspendido sina Romeo Alicaya, Customs Operations Officer III/OIC Customs Collector at Rodel Arciga, Customs Operations Officer I, na pawang mga nakatalaga sa Gateway Business Park Export Processing Zone, General Trias, Cavite.

Ang suspensyon ay kaugnay ng kasong grave misconduct at Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service na isinampa sa Ombudsman laban sa kanila.

Ang kaso ay nag-ugat sa reklamo ng inihain ni Corazon Drilon, may-ari ng Orange Wined Trading, na namimili ng scrap.

Ayon kay Drilon hinihingian siya ng ‘for the boys’ ng dalawa tuwing magbabayad siya ng buwis para sa mga ilalabas na kalakal. Hindi umano makalalabas ang binili niyang scrap metal kung walang pirma si Alicaya. Humingi ng tulong si Drilon sa National Bureau of Investigation na nagsagawa ng entrapment operation.
