Lampawog wagi sa Ronda stage 8

UNISAN, Quezon —Mag-isang tinawid ni Jay Lampawog ng Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance ang finish line sa 187 kilometrong Stage Eight para sa kanyang unang lap victory sa 2017 Ronda Pilipinas.
Napunta naman kay defending champion Jan Paul Morales ang simbolikong red jersey ng overall leader kahapon.
Itinala ng 18-anyos at 5-foot-11 na si Lampawog ang tiyempong apat na oras, 29 minuto at 29 segundo upang mapatatag din nito ang inaasam na Best Young Rider award at manatili sa labanan para sa overall individual classification.
Matapos magwagi sa Stage Seven ay pumangalawa naman kahapon si Morales na namuno sa anim kataong second group na napag-iwanan ni Lampawog ng isang minuto at 10 segundo.
Kasama ni Morales sa grupo na may oras na 4:30:39 sina Jaybop Pagnanawon ng Bike Xtreme, Jonel Carcueva at Bryant Sepnio ng Go for Gold, Reynaldo Navarro ng Kinetix Lab-Army at Jigo Mendoza ng Go for Gold.
Ikapito si Ryan Serapio ng Team Ilocos Sur na may oras na 4:31:21 at sumunod si Ronnel Hualda ng Go for Gold (4:34:51).
“Pinakawalan naming si Jay (Lampawog) dahil kailangan niya kumain ng oras sa Best Young Rider,” sabi ni Navymen team captain Lloyd Lucien Reynante. “Bantay na bantay at hindi din makawala si Rudy (Roque) kaya pinaatake na namin kay Jan Paul.” —Angelito Oredo
