Russia gustong makipag-war games sa PH

Eduard Mikhailov, deputy commander ng Russian Navy Pacific Fleet, nang dumating sa Maynila ang dalawang barkong pandigma ng kanyang bansa kahapon. “For sure that in the future we’ll have exercises… our governments will be discussing at some period of time the possibility of our maritime exercises,” ani Mikhailov. “If the Philippine Navy needs some help, we will help. To me [what] this region [needs] most [is] safety, for you and also for us. The [biggest] problem in the route is terrorism and piracy,” aniya pa. Dumaong kahapon sa South Harbor, Maynila, ang Russian anti-submarine ship na Admiral Tributs at sea tanker na Boris Butoma. Apat na araw mamamalagi sa bansa ang naturang mga barko at mga sakay nitong Russian sailor, na nakatakdang lumahok sa capability demonstration, goodwill games, at cultural activities. Una nang inihayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na nais niyang pagtibayin ang relasyon ng Russia at Pilipinas. Kaugnay nito’y ilang beses na ring sinabi ng Pangulo na nais niyang ipahinto ang military exercises kasama ang Estados Unidos, na karibal naman ng Russia. Nitong nakaraang buwan naman ay sinabi ni Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana na nag-alok ang Russia ng mga gamit pandigma sa Pilipinas.
