SC: Murder convict na si Rolito Go maaari nang makalaya

IPINAG-UTOS ng  Third Division ng  Korte Suprema na palayain na ang convicted murderer na si Rolito Go matapos niyang makumpleto ang kanyang sintensiya tatlong taon na ang nakakaraan.

Nasintensiyahan si Go kaugnay ng pagpatay sa nagtapos ng De La Salle University na si Eldon Maguan matapos niyang barilin matapos magkagitgitan sa kalsada noong 1991.

Si Go ay isang construction magnate.

Nagmamaneho noon ang 25-anyos na si Maguan sa kahabaan ng Wilson st., sa  Greenhills, San Juan nang makaaway si Go dahil sa trapik.

Napatunayang guilty si Go noong 1993 at nasintensiyahan ng  hanggang 40 na taong pagkakabilanggo.

Nagsimula ang kanyang sintensiya sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP) noong April 30, 1996.

Noong 2008, nabigyan si Go, kasama ang 24 na preso ng colonist status matapos ang magandang ipinakita sa kulungan kayat napababa ang kanyang sintensiya.

“Therefore, after crediting his preventive imprisonment of nine (9) months and sixteen (16) days, and the regular Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) and Special Credit Time Allowance (SCTA) granted upon him, Go has completed serving his sentence of 30 years on Aug. 21, 2013,” sabi ng SC.
