Pagpapalaya sa tinatayang 400 political prisoners ibinasura ni Duterte

IBINASURA ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang panawagan ng mga makakaliwa na palayain na ang tinatayang 400 political prisoners sa bansa.
Sa kanyang takumpati matapos pangunahan ang Christimas Tree lighting sa Malacanang, nangako naman si Duterte na papalayain na ang mga political prisoners na may mga karamdaman na.
Ito’y sa harap naman ng isinasagawang hunger strike ng mga tagasuporta at kaanak ng mga political prisoners para ipanawagan kay Duterte na tuparin na ang kanyang pangako.
Sinuportahan naman ni Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza na may ligal na prosesong dapat sundin sa harap ng mga kasong kinakaharap ng mga political prisoners.
” We understand their angst and impatience but we are all forgetting that these efforts were never possible nor even imaginable in the previous times. it is only in the Duterte administration that these releases are all happening,” sabi ni Dureza.
Binatikos din ni Dureza ang pag-atake ng ilang sektor laban sa administrasyon.
“Those mass actions and media attacks serve as good reminders for us in government that we need to do more. But putting undue public pressure on the government which has already taken unprecedented steps may not yield their intended results,” giit ni Dureza.
