Team UAAP-PH bigo agad sa Asean Unigames

AGAD nakalasap ng kabiguan ang Team UAAP-Philippines matapos yumuko ang ipinadalang Ateneo women’s volleyball team sa apat na set kontra Indonesia, 25-21, 17-25, 14-25, 22-25, sa ginaganap na 2016 Asean University Games sa National University of Singapore.

Tanging sa unang set lamang nakapagpakita ng tibay ang ipinadalang koponan ng UAAP na Lady Eagles bago unti-unting nabigo sa sumunod na tatlong set kontra sa koponan ng 11-time overall champion na Indonesia.

Sunod na makakalaban ngayong alas-2:30 ng hapon ng UAAP women’s team ang Thailand.

Matatandaan na si Alyssa Valdez kasama ang setter na si Jia Morado at libero Denden Lazaro ay itinulak ang Team UAAP-Philippines sa pagsungkit ng tansong medalya sa edisyon sa Palembang dalawang taon na ang nakalipas.

Kasama sa delegasyon ang UAAP champion squad na Ateneo men’s volleyball at University of the East men’s at women’s fencing teams pati na rin ang non-UAAP team tulad ng Ateneo shooting, archery at water polo.

Ang 2016 Asean University Games ay isang multi-sports event tampok ang mga estudyanteng atleta na isasagawa simula Hulyo 9 hanggang 19 kung saan 173 events mula sa 16 Sports ang paglalabanan.

Kabilang sa torneo ang Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos , Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Timor Leste, Thailand at Vietnam.

Pinaglalabanan sa torneo ang swimming (38) water polo (1), archery (10), athletics (37), badminton (7), basketball (2), canoeing (21), fencing (11), football (1), pencak silat (18), petanque (7), rugby sevens (1), sepak takraw (2), shooting (8), table tennis (7) at volleyball (2).
