Nakakagulat kasi ang mga sinabi ni Lloydie sa kanyang speech – he opened it with, “Hindi kasi ako naniniwala sa awards” or something to that effect. He followed it up by saying that he believes more in perseverance and hard work, etcetera, etcetera.
As he was reading his “thank yous” sa isang small paper, there were times that he was buckling dahil hindi niya siguro mabasa nang maayos ang names ng kanyang pinasasalamatan lalo na sa portion ng mga big bosses namin sa ABS-CBN, the network that made him a star.
In totality, we found it very strange of John Lloyd, hindi siya yung John Lloyd na nakilala naming very respectful and very humble. Sa stage na ito nakita namin ang arrogance in him – wala kaming nakitang sincerity at tama nga si Tito Ronald Constantino sa comment niya that Lloydie was insincere and hollow. He sounded medyo mayabang at pa-different.
Oks lang namang magkamali sa pagbasa and if he did mention the IDIOT thing on national television, he could have laughed at it and sound a little remorseful para hindi siya nagmukhang arrogant, di ba? “Baka kasi masama pa rin ang loob niya sa nangyari sa nakaraang Metro Manila Film Festival kung saan na-disqualify ang ‘Honor Thy Father’ sa Best Picture category kaya dala-dala niya ito sa stage ng Gawad Urian,” ani Papa Ahwel who was trying to be objective mai-defend lang si Lloydie.
Pero hindi eh, we can’t buy that dahil wala siya sa MMFF stage, nasa Gawad Urian siya, it’s a different platform.
That’s aweful. Si Marlon Brando was honored twice as Best Actor sa Oscars pero dahil hindi siya naniniwala sa awards-awards, he did not go. He made a stand,” ani Manay Celia Rodriguez na tumawag sa amin during the program to speak her heart.
Tama! Kung ayaw mo ng trophy or kung hindi ka naniniwala sa award-awards, what were you doing there in the first place? Para magkalat? Para mang-insulto? Para magsermon or what? Sayang si Lloydie because this is not the usual Lloydie na nakilala namin. Masyado naman yata siyang matayog with what he said.
Sabi nga namin, let’s give him a chance to defend himself. Yung tamang defense, ha. The best siguro that he must do is say sorry to everyone for his actions and words.
Parang he was trying hard to be different pero hindi naman niya mapanindigan. As an actor, wala kaming masabi sa husay niya, he is exemplary. Pero the more that he should be humbler because he is so blessed. What’s wrong with him? Iyan ang tanong ng sambayanan, “what’s wrong with John Lloyd Cruz?”
We’re not mad at John Lloyd, we just found him very strange with that speech. Parang doon namin nakilala ang pagkatao niya by that stupid speech. Pero siyempre, it would be grossly unfair to judge the man outright – pero sana maayos ni Lloydie ang sarili niya muna everytime he goes up sa stage to speak or to receive awards.
Kung hindi nga siya naniniwala sa awards, huwag siyang pumunta sa kahit anong awards night, as simple as that. Do a Marlon Brando baby. Don’t show up or better yet, don’t ever entertain any nomination, okey?
