Sigaw ng bashers kay Jessy: Ikaw ang malas kay John Lloyd!
Si Jessy Mendiola ang bine-blame kung bakit hindi masyadong nag-hit ang movie ni John Lloyd Cruz na “The Trial”. The movie, as per review by some critics, was well written naman and the actors were competent enough to give their best in their respective roles.
Of course, John Lloyd was the best of the lot. Kaya lang, unlike Papa Lloydie’s previous movie outings, “The Trial” didn’t exceed expectations.
Our analysis is that the public want Lloydie to be in a rom-com. Mas type nila ang ganitong movie for him. “The Trial” was a litmus test, but it gave the actor the leverage to display in great abundance his ability to tackle a role he never played before, to trek the road less travelled, in a manner of speaking.
In that aspect, both Star Cinema and John Lloyd have succeeded. We think that John Lloyd made the movie for his SOUL. Unlike other artists, he wants to explore the deeper senses.
That he is BRAVE, UNORTHODOX and CHALLENGE-DRIVEN is a fact. As for Jessy being a box-office poison, hindi naman ito true rito because she wasn’t the leading lady of John Lloyd.
Theirs was not a romantic tandem. The movie is all about Papa Lloydie’s CHARACTER!!! Kaya unfair na sisihin si Jessy.
