DO we smell victory in the Miss Universe 2018?

Sa Dec. 17 in Bangkok, Thailand gaganapin ang 67th Misss U beauty pageant with more than 50 delegates from around the world.

We’re not much of a beauty pageant aficionado much less a pageantologist, pero nakikiisa kami sa mga bayot sa buong bansa in support of whoever is our representative to international pageants lalung-lalo na ang Miss Universe.

This year, inaasahan nating magpapakitang-gilas si Catriona Gray.

True enough, this early Cat is one of the crowd’s favorites. Consider her standing in the following: Pumapangalawa siya sa 10 pinakapaboritong kandidata alongside women from Vietnam, Peru, Panama, USA, Mexico, Brazil, etc.; sa continental clustering naman in terms of catwalk suot ang evening gown, kabilang si Cat sa Top 16 sa pinaghalu-halong bets from the Asia-Pacific and Africa. Definitely not bad.

Kung ito lang ang pagbabasehan, Cat has a strong chance of making it to the semi-finals until whittled down to three.

Ikinukumpara rin kasi namin siya sa mga ibang candidates, oh, the spirit of nationalism is simply burning and intense within us!

Ewan nga lang if we have been betrayed by our very eyes and ears habang nakatutok sa mga video materials showing the rest of the hopefuls. Tama ba ang paningin at pandinig namin that the statuesque Miss Spain is a transgender?

If so, has the Miss U organization adopted a new set of rules? Naku, ha? Wish lang namin, huwag kabugin ng isang “gay” si Gray!
