Ayon kay House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms chairman at CIBAC Rep. “As a result of consultations with them (majority of lawmakers), they are in favor of resetting the barangay and SK polls,” ani Tugna. “But this is unofficial, we are awaiting the majority to take the official stand on the matter, possibly during a caucus.” “Congress is well-aware of the possibility that ballots for the SK and barangay elections are being printed already. But based on my information and monitoring in Comelec, there are only a few ballots that have been printed and the papers used can still be recycled. Through recycling, there will be no waste of paper and no waste of public funds.” “We can also study the proposal to ensure that necessary reforms in barangay and SK are put in place before another polls for these are held,” ani Romualdez. “The billions of pesos that can be saved by the deferment can be used for other worthwhile government projects like construction of public roads, school buildings, scholarship programs and other endeavors.”
