Ipinasususpendi ng prosekusyon sa Sandiganbayan Fifth Division si Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito at mga kapwa akusado nito sa kinakaharap na kasong paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act dahil sa pagbili ng baril.      Naghain ng Motion to Suspend Accused Pendente Lite, ang prosekusyon upang mailagay sa 90-day preventive suspension si Ejercito, City Administrator Ranulfo Dacalos, Legal Officer Romualdo Delos Santos at Lorenza Ching ng city hall.      Ang apat ay kasalukuyang mayroong mga posisyon, ayon sa prosekusyon, at malinaw umano sa batas na dapat silang suspendihin upang hindi nila maimpluwensyahan ang kaso.      “With the arraignment of all of the accused on 18 April 2016 and validity of the Information filed against them is no longer in question, suspension must follow as a matter of course,” saad ng dalawang pahinang mosyon.      Ipinunto ng prosekusyon na ang suspensyon sa mga akusado sa graft case ay hindi parusa at nagiging mandatory kapag naging valid ang reklamo.      “The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the preventive suspension…is mandatory in character ‘upon proper determination of the validity of the Information, it becomes mandatory for the court to immediately issue the suspension order,” saad ng mosyon. “This Court has repeatedly held that such preventive suspension is mandatory, and there are no ifs and buts about it.”      Ang kaso ay kaugnay ng pagbili ng P2.1 milyong halaga ng baril ng mga akusado na hindi umano dumaan sa tamang proseso. Si Ejercito noon ang alkalde ng San Juan.
