Tom pinag-aralan ang politika sa Pinas: Dito na rin kasi ako bubuo ng sarili kong pamilya!

FIRST time voter ang aktor na si Tom Rodriguez sa Pilipinas last May 9 elections. Ilang araw bago ang botohan ay excited na ang hunk actor sa pagpunta sa voting precinct to cast his votes.

Pero tikom naman ang bibig ni Tom kung sino ang kanyang ibinotong Presidente, “I’m 28 years old and I‘m realizing this is my home. This is where I’m gonna be raising my family. And I want to make an active role.

“Sabi ko, wala naman akong alam sa pulitika e, and so who will I vote for. Sabi ko, I owe it to this country to study and learn,” pahayag ni Tom noong makausap namin sa presscon ng latest movie niya na “Magtanggol” na ipapalabas ngayong Mayo, 2016.

Bukod sa pag-aaral sa history ng Pilipinas, sinimulan na rin niya na alamin ang iba’t ibang uri ng gobyerno sa buong mundo, “Kasi inisip ko wala akong alam, sino ang iboboto ko. Naka-register nga ako pero sino? So, I have to really study for the past few years. And that’s even before ‘Magtanggol’ was offered to me,” lahad niya. Ang “Magtanggol” ang unang action-crime thriller movie ni Tom. Lalabas siya sa movie as the 40-year old Atty. Juancho Magtanggol.

“I’m sorry to sound like a broken record, any role I’ve given there’s always something challenging about it. And with this one naman really I’m playing a role who is someone older than I am, and you have to see him in different stages of his life,” lahad ng aktor. Hindi naman daw siya concerned masyado kung mananalo siya ng award for his role sa said movie.

“No, kasi ano, sakit ko na ‘yun noon pa, sa pag-sketch ko pa lang. When I was, wanted to be a conceptual artist, every time na iisipin ko I wanna draw something cool, wala akong ma-drawing. Blangko ‘yung papel na minsan iniisip ko, ‘yung mga sketch book ko puro blangko kasi sa isip ko kailangan ang i-drawing ko diyan maganda. Tuloy wala akong maisip,” kwento niya.

He’s not here naman daw to compete, “We are here to enjoy, to have fun and to share ideas and I know I was able to do that a lot in this project and I’m very happy the whole crew, specially sina Direk Sig (Sigfreid Barros) so collaborative and so inventive on what they do. So, passionate.”

Kasama ni Tom sa “Magtanggol” sina Ejay Falcon, Denise Laurel, Albie Casiño, Yam Concepcion, Kim Domingo, Jonee Gamboa and Dina Bonnevie na unang handog ng Felix and Bert Film Productions.

Anyway, about his personal life, may plano na ring lumagay sa tahimik si Tom, he said maybe soon daw ay gusto na rin niyang magkaroon ng sarili niyang pamilya. But the question is – si Carla Abellana na nga kaya ang babaeng gusto niyang makasama for the rest of his life?
