INILAGAY na ang Abra sa kontrol ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa harap naman ng mga reklamo ng harassment at vote-buying.
Sinabi ni Abra election supervisor Richelle Belmes-Beronilla na hindi pa natatanggap ng regional office ang desisyon ng Comelec en banc.
Noong 2010, inilagay din ang Abra sa Comelec control.
“I don’t really have details of what we are expected to do without a copy of that resolution but we will also require more policemen and soldiers to augment security,” sabi ni Beronilla.
Idinagdag ni Beronilla na umabot sa 28 ang mga kaso ng pamamaril na may kaugnayan sa eleksiyon.
Noong Abril 6, binaril at napatay si Crispin Magwellang, sa bayan ng Baay Licuan matapos dumalo ng isang kasal sa Malibcong. Si Magwellang ay tumatakbo sa pagkonsehal.
Noong Abril 16, isang bomba ang sumabog sa bayan ng La Paz.
Noong Abril 24, napatay ang supporter ng isang kumakandidato sa pagka-mayor sa bayan ng San Juan.
