Si Regine pa rin ang ‘greatest Pinay singer of all time’

Regine Velasquez is truly the standard by which good singing is measured.

This, she displayed in great abundance when she, together with Jed Madela and Rhada, performed for Solaire’s second anniversary concert last Saturday with Full House Asia Production and Sound Check as partners.

The show opened with 5th Gen’s fiery number, “Queen of the Night” which segued to Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”, after which they performed “Seasons of Love” from RENT.

Radha’s “Chain of Love” and her cover version of Aretha Franklin’s “RESPECT” was simply bonggacious. But her rendition of John Legend’s “All Of Me” got most of the audience stunned.

Then came 5th Gen, Radha and Jed Madela’s show stopping number, “Bang Bang”. After that, Jed displayed his great vocal calisthenics in “Living On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi.

He was so great in that number, parang people watching him stopped breathing. Regine followed with her love-filled numbers, beginning with “Dadalhin”, her signature song of late.

Then she sang a newly-arranged version of “A Love Story” which had the audience in great awe. The Songbird’s rendition was so heartfelt that the crowd were misty-eyed after that song. Only Regine can do that.

Apparently, when Regine does cover versions, almost always ay mas maganda pa ang version niya kaysa sa original. Magaling na siya pero mas gumagaling pa. That’s Regine for you and me.

Then came Regine and Jed’s “Ikaw” number which fittingly capped the night as ikaw na ikaw Regine ang greatest Philippine singer of all time!!!
