16-man Gilas Cadets pool pinangalanan

MULA sa orihinal na 25 manlalarong inimbita para sa tryouts, pinangalanan kahapon ni national coach Tab Baldwin ang 16 manlalaro kabilang si naturalized player Marcus Douthit sa pool kung saan kukunin ang bubuo sa Gilas Pilipinas team para sa Southeast Asian Basketball (SEABA) Championship at Southeast Asian Games.

Ang SEABA ay isasagawa sa Abril 27 hanggang Mayo 1 habang ang SEA Games ay nakatakda sa Hunyo 9 hanggang 15 na parehong gaganapin sa Singapore.

Ang mga manlalaro na napabilang sa Gilas Cadets pool matapos ang serye ng tryouts na isinagawa ni Baldwin kasama nina assistant coaches na Nash Racela, Josh Reyes, Mike Oliver at Jimmy Alapag ay sina Baser Amer, Mac Belo, Kevin Ferrer, Jiovanni Jalalon, Glenn Khobutin, Ray-Ray Parks, Keifer Ravena, Thirdy Ravena, Prince Rivero, Troy Rosario, Jeron Teng, Scottie Thompson, Norbert Torres, Arnold Van Opstal at Almond Vosotros.

Ang pagsama kay Garvo Lanete sa pool ay nakasalalay naman sa maaga niyang paggaling buhat sa kanyang kasalukuyang injury.

Sisimulan naman ni Baldwin ang team practice ng Gilas pool sa Lunes, alas-8 hanggang alas-10 ng gabi sa Meralco gym.

Ang dating head coach ng New Zealand at Jordan ay itinalaga kamakailan para hawakan ang Gilas Pilipinas na hangad na makakuha ng puwesto sa 2016 Summer Olympics sa Rio de Janeiro, Brazil sa pagsabak nito sa FIBA Asia Championship sa China ngayong taon.
