GLOBALPORT WAGI SA GINEBRA

PINALAKAS ng Globalport ang pag-asang makakuha ng playoff spot matapos nilang tambakan ang Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 98-77, sa kanilang 2014-15 PBA Philippine Cup game kahapon sa Smart Araneta Coliseum sa Cubao, Quezon City.

Ang panalo ng Globalport ay naging magandang pambuena-mano rin para kay interim head coach Eric Gonzales na minanduhan ang koponan sa kanyang unang laro kapalit ni Pido Jarencio.

“I’m very happy, very grateful to God and the Globalport management,” sabi ni Gonzales, na dinagdag na bagamat si Jarencio ay naging consultant na lamang ng Batang Pier ang dating UST Growling Tigers head coach ay mahalaga pa ring bahagi ng Globalport.

“I’m also thankful for Coach Pido I’ve learned so much from him and he also gave his input before the game,” sabi pa ni Gonzales said.

At naging maganda naman ang kumbinasyon nina Gonzales at Jarencio para sa Batang Pier na agad pinatahimik ang Barangay Ginebra sa first half sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mabilis na opensa na gumulantang sa Gin Kings.

Ang panalo ng Globalport ay pumutol din sa dalawang larong pagkatalo at umangat sila sa 5-5 kartada habang ang Barangay Ginebra ay nahulog sa 5-4 marka matapos malasap ang ikatlong sunod na pagkatalo.

Si Terrence Romeo ay kumana ng 25 puntos para pamunuan ang Globalport habang sina Anthony Semerad, Alex Cabagnot at Keith Jensen ay nag-ambag ng 17, 15 at 11 puntos para sa Batang Pier.

Si Greg Slaughter ang namuno sa Gin Kings sa itinalang double-double na 21 puntos at 15 rebounds.
