ISINULAT namin kamakailan ang tungkol sa ginanap na meeting ni Derek Ramsay kasama ang daddy niya sa ABS-CBN chief executive officer na si Gabby Lopez, Jr. kasama ang TV executives na sina Charo Santos-Concio, Cory Vidanes at Malou Santos.
Hindi na mabilang kung pang-ilang meeting na ni Derek ito sa mga nabanggit na opisyales ng Dos kaya ito agad ang tinanong namin sa kanya nang makausap namin siya pagkatapos ng presscon ng “Corazon, Unang Aswang” noong Miyerkules ng gabi.
“The meeting went well, so this weekend, may family meeting kami and hihintayin namin ‘yung offer ng Channel 2,” kaswal na sabi ng aktor.
Wala pa palang offer ang Dos kay Derek? So, para saan ang mga nangyaring meeting niya with the bosses? “Wala, well, nagkaroon din kasi ng confusion, sabi kasi nila, make your wish list, pero hindi ako ganu’n na artista, e, maging diva (pa-importante). Ayokong mag-demand, gusto ko ‘yung kusa. I want it to come from them. Ang trato ko sa ABS is pamilya, so manggaling na lang sa kanila kung ano ang gusto nilang ibigay,” katwiran ni Derek.
Nasulat na rin namin na expired na ang kontrata ni Derek noong Peb. 29 kaya naman agad tinanong si Derek kung siya na ang magiging host ng Amazing Race na eere sa TV5 soon.
“Ewan ko kung paano lumabas ‘yun, it’s something kasi na I’ve been vocal na gusto kong sumali, hindi mag-host. And I think TV5 will do Amazing Race, baka that’s put together,” nagtataka ring sabi ng aktor.
Samantala, tinanong ulit si Derek kung pormal na bang inoperan siya ng TV5? “No formal offer from TV5, wala pa. Not yet. Wala pang lipatang mangyayari,” paglilinaw pa ni Derek.
Kailan siya magde-decide? “Well, I’m going to meet my family this weekend, aakyat ako sa Tagaytay sa Saturday at hihintayin namin ‘yung offer ng 2. And we had a great meeting today (Miyerkules), sir Gabby have said nice things to me tungkol sa pagkatao ko which I really appreciated and sinabi ko sa kanya na, my mind is open for anything. Ang gusto ko lang nga is manggaling sa kanila ang plans and then I’ll just compare whatever,” sagot ng aktor.
Kung ibabase sa mga sagot ng aktor ay malinaw na may agam-agam siyang mag-renew ng kontrata niya sa Dos at ano kaya ang mga ito? “This is definitely not about money and I’ve proven that,” mabilis na sabi ng leading man ni Erich sa “Corazon”.
“Well, two years ago, I was offered something, I’ve showed my loyalty (ABS-CBN) I did not demand anything, asking them to match or half. I love this network, they’ve done a lot to me but there are disappointing times.
“But I guess, ‘yun ‘yung iwe-weigh namin. We’ll see where my future will go, what’s best for me, tumatanda na rin ako, lahat ‘yan pag-uusapan namin. I don’t know and I can’t make a decision right now,” katwiran ni Derek.
May tampo ba siya sa news department ng ABS-CBN na siyang naglabas sa balitang may asawa siya? “That was a part na may lumabas na may tampo ako, wala akong tampo, I wasn’t shifting, kilala n’yo ako, hindi ako ganu’n.
“Disappointed, yes, everything, the whole cancer (sinabing may sakit siya) thing, I was really disappointed with that. ‘Yun ang talagang (pissed-off) ako, I told them (management) about this.
“There’s also been good times, the start of my career is a big deal (worked) with Judy Ann Santos, so they made me, who I am now, but there’s always a room for changing your life and that goes after the weekend,” paliwanag pa ni Derek sa amin.
Samantala, pinaklaro rin namin kay Derek ang tsikang inoperan ng TV5 na mag-co produce sila ng daddy niya sa lahat ng shows niya kung matutuloy ang paglipat niya?
“No, that’s actually hurt my father. I was the one who broke the news to him, somebody told me, and that’s completely against the whole integrity of my father and his beliefs that he puts up his company from scratch.
“He doesn’t need anything, he’s a very proud man, he put’s up his business honestly and he doesn’t need any ex-deal for that. He’s too proud for that, and I don’t understand why, nakakainsulto naman. Funny enough, we we’re talking that today,” maayos na paliwanag ng actor. – Regee Bonoan
