‘LUCY’ ni Scarlett Johansson bawal sa mga tamad mag-isip

“LUCY” is intelligent and exciting at talagang mapapaisip ka until the end. We swear we wanted to go patriotic to watch another Cinemalaya entry sa Glorietta 4 last Saturday right after the Marian Rivera dancing show but the problem is, there is nothing listed that night.

Only one Pinoy movie was there and since we were not invited at all even once sa presscon ng said Pinoy movie we know we will not give it space in our column so in between “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Lucy”, we chose the 10 p.m. “Lucy” screening sa cinema 6.

Forced drug courier si Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) who is to carry a different kind of drugs with her, something that will increase her mind to 100 percent capacity, something that could never be done normally.

Now she is in the middle of war between the drug courier that wants her delivery and the scientific community that wants to study her. The first time we saw the trailer of the movie, we know we’d be interested in watching this as we like science fiction with logical explanation. “Lucy” has lots of that, trailer pa lang so ito ang pinanood namin.

Hindi kami nagkamali at hindi kami nagsisi. One of the most intelligent movies we’ve seen in so many years, the good thing about this is that understandable lahat.

When Lucy was doing her stuff from making everything stop to typing two laptops at once, it’s believable. Siguro credit na rin this to Scarlett who is one of the most underrated actresses around and one of the most beautiful pa.

She never overacts even if she’s in a middle of another physical change and that’s good acting. In the end when she accepted her fate, mukha niya lang ang palaging onscreen and you know what is happening.

Not that she did some other type of acting ha, nang hindi niya pa alam ang nangyayari sa kaniya at nagmamakaawa siya sa mga kontrabida, nakakaawa siya talaga and you’d think na baka mamatay siya agad even if you know it will not happen of course because she’s the title role and the movie is just beginning.

Credit this to the director din, French director Luc Besson who is very impressive pala specially in the handling of everything – from the acting to the set and the special effects.

Speaking of special effects, one of the big reasons why you should watch “Lucy” is its subtle special effects. There are lots believe us and most are complicated but the way the movie presented it, it looked natural.

Ang pagbagsak ng mga tao sa background, ang paghinto ng oras and even the computer simulation where Lucy became part of the supercomputer in the end and reduced to one USB, it’s impressive.

No, that’s not the ending don’t worry dahil mind boggling ang ending we tell you. It will make you question everything you saw in the movie from the start if its true or not or if it can really happen.

For a heavy sci-fi, there are lot of good acting here too specially Scarlett’s co-star Morgan Freeman as Professor Norman who will unlock her secret in the end and the French police Amr Aked who is or maybe not her partner.

For the record, Lucy ang pinangalan ng science sa first discovered ape that could be the missing link, a female specie. Nagkita sina Lucy and the ape Lucy that’s interesting. One of the more interesting visuals you will enjoy.

Good thing the movie house is almost full so you’d know it will stay long kaya try to catch it but only for those who has some iota of intellect ha, baka kasi paglabas niyo ng sinehan, tanong kayo nang tanong kung ano yun at kung ano ang nangyari. Then “Lucy” is not for you.
